About Me

I have always been interested in my Native American and Scottish (Celtic) heritage.  Since I was a child my mother and grandmother told me stories of my great-grandmother, a full blooded Cherokee. About six years ago I started doing Native American leatherwork and beading.  I had a number of close friends help me down this path.  In 1999 I requested to become a member of the Eastern Band of the Cherokee Nation.  The process took some time but my great-grandmother’s name is listed on the Cherokee role.  She was Wolf Clan.  Since Clan passes maternally, I am Wolf Clan as well.  I was accepted by the Clan and then the Tribe, as is tradition, in 2001. You can see my certificate on this site.

I have always enjoyed history.  I am fortunate that a large number of my Scottish ancestors were military men.  Names such as the following line the family:

Major General James Abercromby -  French and Indian War, fought at Fort Carillion,  also known as Ticonderoga (perhaps not a bright spot)

Lieutenant General Sir Ralph Abercromby – Napoleonic Wars, defeated Napoleon in Egypt

Lieutenant Colonel Sir Robert Abercromby – Mysore Wars, became Governor General of Bombay

There are a number of others as well.  Abercromby is a family clan from Fife and Stirlingshire, Scotland.  I wear the Abercrombie (later Anglicized name) kilt.  As State Convener for Clan MacDuff, I ran all of the highland games in Georgia.  I did that for about 15 years. I retired as Convener in 2008.  This led to my love of all things Celtic.

I try to blend both sides into my work.  Please take a look and comments welcome......
